Alathur Brothers, the Star Duo of the 20th Century excelled in the presentation of the authentic tradition of Carnatic music. They brought together its technicalities and subtle nuances and created a permanent niche for themselves among listeners, both the experts and the laymen, alike. They established a style of music unique for themselves and they owed their success to the fact that their voices blended beautifully and effectively.
Their captivating music reflects their assiduous practice, in depth knowledge of the Lakshya and Lakshana aspects, unique to Carnatic music and the inspiration drawn from many a colossus of bygone era in Carnatic music. Their forte was the Kalapramanam or the tempo of the concert which kept the listeners awestruck. They were known for their intricate renditions of Ragam Tanam Pallavi, replete with all its mathematical permutations and combinations they had mastered, imbibing the art from their Guru. The doyen of Carnatic music Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer once commented that the kind of "Jeevan" or life the brothers enthused into the compositions was hard to emulate and almost incomparable. Their concerts were essays into the very depths of the various aspects of Carnatic music.
The magical combination of the Alathur Brothers with the Mridangam legendary virtuoso Palghat Mani Iyer was a rage among audiences. This product brings to you a superb live concert performed at Bombay along with an incomparable combination of Mysore T.Chowdiah on the Violin, Palghat Mani Iyer on the Mridangam and Swaminatha Pillai on the Kanjira taking the concert on to a different plane.
This Audio CD has been released to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Palghat T.S.Mani Iyer in 2012.
