Isavasya Upanishad belongs to the Sukla Yajur Veda. The Upanishad extols the all-pervasiveness and all-controlling nature of the Supreme Being. A fool-proof method to chant each mantra in various patterns is known as Pada, Krama, Jata, Ghana etc. Reciting Vedas in Ghana form is to repeat words in various ways, back and forth.
This would be pleasant to the ears and creates a sense of happiness within. It would seem that the natural grandeur of the Veda Mantras is heightened as it were. It was even laid down that this more difficult method of chanting earned the chanter and the listener more punya or merit. This CD beings with Guru Dhayanam and continues with Isavasya Ghana, followed by
Yogakshema Prarthana [a part from the Aswamedha Prakarana of the Veda]
besides Abhyaroha Japa and Gargya Brahmana from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad and end with Adeeta Avismarana Mantra. These are recited by the eminent President Awardee Ganapati Brahmasri Parasurama Sastri and his disciples S. Srinivasa Sarma, K. S. Manjunathan and D. Shankaran. Co-ordinated by Prof. R. Thiagarajan and Veeramani Kannan [Music Director]. This is of Amutham Music Pvt. Ltd., Chennai.
