The prime motto of this Product is to hand down significant kritis in the Semmangudi Bani to the next generation in its pristine form. In this product Raga Lakshanas of Ragas Suruti and Arabhi have been explained in detail and demonstrated by the veteran V. Subrahmaniam so as to give a deeper insight into the raga and its nuances and enable students to render it without ambiguity. The Raga Lakshanas has been fortified with recordings of great stalwarts which makes this product invaluable to aspiring musicians. Two major kritis (including one kriti of Maharaja Swati Tirunal) are also taught in each of these ragas to the students. This Product is a sure asset to all students of Carnatic Music. V. Subrahmaniam is one of the prime disciples of Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and had the unique privilege of being associated with him for 47 long years. He has the distinction of learning all the kritis directly from the Maestro. Semmangudi, the legend comes under the illustrious Umayalpuram school which is in the direct sishya parampara of Saint Thyagaraja. V.Subrahmaniam is the true representative and torch bearer of this immaculate Bani. He is a stickler for absolute patanthara suddham. Thus the fidelity to the patanthara is upheld to the minutest detail. V.Subrahmaniam has also learned Padams and Javalis under the great T. Brinda. An ‘A’ graded artist of the AIR, he has set to tune many compositions of the Jagadgurus of Sringeri. He has proved himself as an illustrious Guru for which the Music Academy (Madras) conferred him the title of ‘Sangita Kala Acharya’ in the year 2007.
