Goddess Mahalakshmi an important place in the Trinity of Hindu Goddesses
Durga, Lakshmi and Sarawathi, Being the consort of Lord Mahavishnu,
she is adored as the Athi Devatha for material riches and comfort. Her
devotes worship her to secure wealth as well as to preserve it. Even
very great souls have worshipped Goddess Mahalakshmi for the benefit
of the poor and needy. The story of Adi Sankara is well known when he
composed Kanakadhara stotram praying to lakshmi to bestow prosperity
on a very poor lady. Similarly Srisuktham, which occurs in the Yajur
Veda in praise of Lakshmi, is also recited regularly for getting material
prosperity
Once Gargya Rishi approached Saga Sanathkumara - once of the four disciples
of Lord Dakshinamurthy or Shiva - with the query How to get prosperity
and success in all material efforts? Santhakumara replied. Uttering
the thousand names of Goddess Mahalakshmi even would instantly drive

he rendered Lakshmi Saharanamam for the sake of world benefit. It

154 slokas and it is customary to recite the same in Anushtup Chandas
(meter). Repeating the thousand names of Lakshmi regularly especially
on Fridays and full moon days will bring material and spiritual good.
